Saeed Qassem Muhammad Hizam, a resident of Al-Dhabab area of Sabr Al-Mawadim in Taiz, who is over sixty years old, lives with his family in his small rural house near a farm he rented with a lot of money, but was unable to invest it because he did not have any other source of income to use in land reclamation. Therefore, Saeed lived a sad life full of hardship and struggle. The concerns of providing a livelihood hardly left his mind, in addition to the concerns of providing education costs for his children.
Salam Yemen Foundation team visited him to his barren, arid farm full of thorns and weeds, and we asked him about his dream, and he said: “I only dream of buying seeds and fertilizer and providing fuel to start plowing the land and pumping water”.
We returned to him another time, and we did not find him. We kept asking the people of the village about him, and they did not know the reason for his disappearance. We found him, after searching and investigating, imprisoned because of special problems, and he did not know anyone in higher-ups to support him, so we contacted the authorities, and they found him innocent, and we were the reason for his release from prison.
From here, we started the story of realizing his dream by providing the necessary funding to uproot weeds, then turn the soil. After a period of plowing and cultivation, the Foundation provided him with seeds, fertilizer and diesel. We walked with him together step by step until he had a crop from which he sold a different yield each time, so he alternated between planting zucchini, okra, basil and coriander, and he planted papaya seeds, and he became happy with the joy of obtaining this project that he dreamed of. He no longer worries about providing food and drink for his family, nor the costs of his children education. He now wakes up every morning energetic to his farm, repairing it and picking the ripe fruits.
