Salam Yemen Foundation places the protection of the most vulnerable groups at the forefront, Especially women and children, At the heart of its humanitarian priorities in Yemen. Under the current circumstances, with their immense challenges and increasing risks, the protection program becomes a lifeline and a protective shield for many, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to providing a safe environment where their dignity is preserved and their fundamental rights are respected.
Main program objective:
The Salam Yemen Foundation's protection program primarily aims to protect women and children, especially female-headed households, from all forms of violence, exploitation, neglect, and abuse. We strive to ensure their enjoyment of their basic rights and strengthen their resilience in the face of challenges.
Our work areas in the protection program:
To achieve this goal, the Peace Yemen Foundation works through the Protection Program on several integrated axes:
Direct support for survivors of violence and those most at risk:
- Psychosocial support: Providing specialized individual and group support sessions to help those affected recover and regain their psychological and social balance.
- Legal Support and Legal Assistance: Providing legal advice and assistance to ensure that victims of violations have access to justice and obtain their rights.
- Emergency cash and in-kind assistance: Providing direct financial assistance, distributing clothing (especially Eid clothing for children), and other essential items to meet urgent needs and strengthen families' economic resilience.
Prevention and community awareness:
- Awareness and education campaigns: Implementing activities to raise community awareness of women's and children's rights, the risks of gender-based violence, and the importance of child protection.
- Empowering women and community leaders: Building the capacity of women and community leaders (both men and women) to identify available protection mechanisms and contribute to creating a safe environment.
Specialized interventions for child protection:
- Case management for children at risk: direct intervention to protect children, assess their needs, provide necessary support, and follow up on their cases in coordination with relevant authorities and partners.
- Establish and operate safe and child-friendly spaces: Providing safe places for children to participate in educational, recreational, and psychosocial support activities, helping them adapt and recover.
- Orphan and children with special needs sponsorship programs: providing ongoing financial and care support to ensure their basic needs are met and they can live a decent life.
